The weekend steal

Mass Effect on Steam

It's (almost) the weekend. Bonfire weekend no less. There'll be flames I tell ya. And a bald Natalie Portman will be wandering around confused in the rain. May not. I might be the confused one there. There will be fireworks though. Definitely fireworks. That is assuming you can pull yourself away from your screen and head out into rain filled nights so cold you'll be forced to gather round spent sparklers for warmth.

So don't bother. Stay inside and play games instead.

The digital distribution websites are enjoying the two day break by hitting some great games with their 50% off stick. Steam is celebrating the release of the Dragon Age: Origins by flogging BioWare's previous classic, Mass Effect, at 50% off the normal price. Meanwhile, Stardock is highlighting a bevy of games at reduced prices: including the often discounted and heavily punctuated Stalker and the sheepy Flock! for 50% off.

  • What am I meant to be doing? Why am I here? Who are you? WHAT YEAR IS IT? WHO'S THE PRESIDENT? Ah, my memory seems to have failed. Fortunately, if I go into the shop and by PC Format, there's a complete guide to choosing new memory. We've picked 12 of the best dual and triple-channel sticks and given them a run for their money.

While we're on the subject of running for money, Dexter made me run round the office in my pants chasing a fiver the other day. That's right, I've got an office in my pants. Anyway, other reviews we've got this issue include Intel's latest Core i5 processor, a couple of souper-douper laptops, a touchscreen screen and an awesome wheel and pedal combo.
