Happy Birthday Warcraft

WoW 5

A strange thing just happened. Rachel, our slightly-deranged designer, asked me if I had just got a new pet in WoW. Rachel knows next to nothing about gaming inĀ general, and diddly-squat about WoW. This was ratherĀ surprising then. Apparently they just mentioned it on the radio.

So there you are. That's how big WoW has become. It gets mentioned on the radio and people that know nothing about that game are suddenly aware that it's been going for five years. Five Years. And it's still going strong. Something to celebrate for sure, especially if you work for Blizzard.

The pet in question is a small Onyxia whelp, that has been given out to everyone that logs on during the fifth anniversary celebrations. It's cute and should add plenty of confusion to any Onyxia raid.

Blizzard has also created a mini-site to celebrate the event, which happens to coincide with fifteen years of Warcraft too. You can take a look here.

I think you meant "know"....

I thought you were supposed to have a degree in English to work as a journalist for an internationally renowned magazine.

Where did you get yours? A Cornflakes box?

Oh no, end of

Oh no, end of world...

That's what you get for typing something quickly while on deadline I guess - the care and compassion of the internet. Thank you mister Anonymous, may your day be full of light and joy :p

Seriously?

Anonymous read the blog post and the simple, albeit all to common, shortening of a word is what they got from it.

Quick, I hear someone used 2 periods to end a sentence in the forum..

In the meantime, happy birthday Warcraft and World of Warcraft, and more pets please :D

You added an extra period to your ellipsis. Aren't trolls supposed to have a degree in nit-picking? Where did you find yours? under some other troll's bridge?

  • Look at that thing on the cover! What is it? A nuclear power station? A Combine base from Half-Life 2? A rejected robot from Transforminators? No, it's a PC! A hulking great compartmentalised beast of a PC. In ten years, all PCs will look like this. Even your Mum's. Adam Oxford's produced a complete guide to future tech, so you'll know exactly what to spend your cash on to build the PC of the future.

Of course, the most important part of your PC is the CPU. There are a fair few bargains out there from AMD and Intel. Jeremy Laird has given them a run for their money, and written masses on each and every one. An essential guide for now, and the future. Jeremy also tried Intel's mobile Core i7 and Core i5 chips, which feature integrated GPUs and will be heading to a laptop near you soon.
